Herdade dos Grous - Typical farm dinner, folk music by the Ceifeiros de Cuba and visit to a state-of-the-art wine cellar. "Herdade dos Grous" is a country estate 17 kilometres from Beja.

Beja walking Tour - Walking guided tour through the historic centre of Beja, including a visit to the Saint Amaro Church, the Castle, the Cathedral, the Republic Square, the Virgin Mary Church, the Seminar and the Regional Museums.

Pousada de São Francisco - Dinner at Pousada de S. Francisco and music moment with Luangraal. The Pousada de São Francisco is a 13th century Franciscan Convent, in the heart of the historical Beja, which combines its own mystic with highest standards of and comfort, including a magnificent cuisine.

Saturday, 13 October 2007, 10.00 to 16.00

Mértola - A guided tour to the ancient town of Mértola is proposed for Saturday. Mértola, located 50 km East of Beja, is one of the richest archaeological sites of Alentejo. The visitor may travel through ages ranging the Romans remains until the mid 20th Century industrial architecture. The Arab peninsular culture is well represented by largest medieval Arab festival in Europe that occurs in Mértola every May.

ACCOMPAIGNING CULTURAL PROGRAMME

Évora TourÉvora is an UNESCO World Heritage site. This white and charming city dominates over the Alentejo plain from the top of its cathedral towers. This activity proposes a walking tour in the historic centre. The presence of different cultures is witnessed by the vast monument architectural patrimony. It’s suggesting an intense cultural experience, complemented by the little secrets of the convention confectionery. Minimum of 7 participants.

Medieval Alqueva - In 2002, when the Alqueva dam floodgates were closed, few imagined the immensity of water that would gather there. During the tour, the visitor sails on Alqueva and discovers this inner “sea” new landscape and finishes the day walking through history at the walled medieval town of Monsaraz. Minimum of 7 participants.

The wine and the vineyard - After a guided tour through a vineyard and agricultural farm with a diversity of productions and livestock, a modern wine-cellar is visited. Wines produced on the farm will be tasted and typical farm lunch is enjoyed. Minimum of 4 participants.

Serpa TourSerpa is a white town of fertile borderline lands surrounded by a stunning landscape. The city offers a large set of built patrimony to be seen in its churches, in its castle and in its manors, as well as in the high quality regional gastronomy products. Minimum of 4 participants.

Pottery Workshop - Moulding, forming and painting clay is doubtlessly an enriching experience and an opportunity to share the culture of Alentejo workmanship. This program includes regional lunch and a visit to the medieval village of Monsaraz. Minimum of 4 participants.

Roman Roads and Ways - The fertile lands of Alentejo have attracted settlements throughout the ages. Not far from Beja, at Vidigueira and Cuba significant Roman patrimony may visited as such as Roman roads and the well preserved Roman towns of Pisões and S. Cucufate where Roman way of life may yet felt. Minimum of 7 participants.
